Frequently
Asked
Questions

What are your qualifications?

I have a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy). This degree includes the study of human biology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, â€‹nutritional biochemistry, herbal medicine, herbal pharmacognosy, and supervised clinical practice. I am an accredited member of the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA) and complete continuing professional education regularly.

Can I see a naturopath if I take prescription medication?

Yes. One of the primary roles of a degree-qualified clinical naturopath is to ensure safety. We are trained to check for potential herb-drug-nutrient interactions to ensure any natural protocols safely complement the care you are receiving from your GP or specialists.

Can you order other functional tests?

Yes. If testing is required to investigate your health condition, I can order specialised testing, including but not limited to gastrointestinal microbiome testing for investigation of gut symptoms, vaginal microbiome testing for investigation of vaginal symptoms, DUTCH testing for investigation of hormonal symptoms and Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) for investigation of heavy metal and mineral ratios.

Is GST charged on naturopathy consultations?

Under current Australian tax law, naturopathic consultations with a recognised professional are GST-free. However, prescribed herbal medicines and nutritional supplements are subject to GST.

What is the difference between a naturopath and a nutritionist?

While both focus on holistic wellness and dietary foundations, clinical naturopathy incorporates a broader range of traditional modalities, such as herbal medicine and lifestyle therapeutics, alongside clinical nutrition to treat the whole person.

Can you review my recent blood test results?

If you have had any blood work or scans done in the last 6-12 months, bring a copy to your initial consultation for analysis. This can provide some valuable insight into your health.

Do you offer telehealth consultations?

Yes. While many clients prefer visiting the office, online Telehealth video consultations are available for your convenience, allowing you to access care from anywhere in Australia.

Can I claim my consultation through private health insurance?

Naturopathy and Western herbal medicine are officially eligible for private health insurance cover as of 1 July 2025. However, it is up to each health fund to decide if they will include naturopathy in their extras policies, and when their rollout will begin. We recommend contacting your health fund directly to ask about their timeline for reinstating natural therapies.
